With Father's Day around the corner, I thought it was the perfect time to shine the light on men's skin health. Men's facial skin is generally thicker than women's, so it's less likely to have sensitivities. Men typically have a more straightforward skincare routine or should I say manscaping, but taking care of the skin with the right products is essential.
What Is Manscaping?
The term manscaping means to groom a man. Shaving, waxing and generally cleaning up. One of the biggest concerns for men is shaving. It can play havoc with the health of the skin, causing irritations and razor bumps. It can be a big worry, mainly if sensitive skin is an issue. Shaving can also make the skin prone to ingrown hairs. It occurs when the hair becomes trapped beneath the skin's surface. Red bumps will often follow, and this can be itchy and inflamed. However, it's never a good idea to manually try and force them out. It will only make the inflammation and irritation worse and can result in red marks that last for weeks.Men's Skincare And Shaving Tips
Instead, applying a small amount of our Rescue Acne Cream or Phytoseptic Cream on the affected area will reduce infection, draw out impurities, reduce redness and irritation. A light exfoliating can to help the hair reach the skin's surface. TIP: To help reduce irritations, shave straight after getting out of the shower when the hair and skin are suppler. Make sure the skin is wet and warm, then work up a good lather and shave with the grain of the hair (rather than against it) with one stroke. Follow with a soothing, alcohol-free balm or moisturiser with good hydration properties, (our boost balancing moisturiser is perfect for this) to help reduce redness and calm the skin.
UV protection is just as important for males. Using a sunscreen, to protect the skin from UV rays will help shield the skin against damage caused by the sun. This is especially relevant to those working outside or those who spend a lot of time in the sun, including driving, throughout the day. With the same essential skin composition as women, men are just as likely to see wrinkles and colour pigmentation of the skin with age. This is why ensuring your vitamin intake, and other essential minerals will help support the skin's health.

Vitamins and minerals help to ensure that the skin is kept in tip-top condition. A multivitamin that includes the following would be the excellent support for skin health for males:
